SPAD Management Program
A new SPAD management program is set to introduced as a result of the recent GM safety briefings held with train crew.
As a part of the new multi-layered, two year reduction strategy, various committees and working groups will be set up and will include people from senior directorate level (SPAD Steering Committee) to General Manager level (SPAD Safety Action Group) and finally the SPAD Working Group (SWG) which will contain driver and RTBU participation.
The intent of the SWG is to explore root causes of SPAD occurrence, discuss and investigate solutions, refine and implement SPAD reduction initiatives.
These findings and recommendations will then be fed up to the various higher levels for implementation.
The RTBU’s involvement in this important process is a welcome change from previous attempts by management to reduce SPADs.
