Protected Action Ballot: Voting is now OPEN

May 8, 2023
we will bargain together

Dear Members,

Voting in the latest Protected Action Ballot is now OPEN.

All members should vote YES.

Please make sure your workmates have voted too. Voting closes in 7 days at 1200hrs on Wednesday 12th October. As a reminder, we need at least 50% of all members to vote in the PAB and for a majority of those members to vote yes for it to pass. This is why it is crucial that we all work together to get the result we need.

If you can’t find your voting details be sure to check your junk folders.

This PAB is very important as it will allow us to take action in the form of deactivating Opal gates across the state. We already know this will be a very effective action based on the NSW Government’s temper tantrum in the media and desperate attempts to get it shut down.

Once the PAB is successful, our Opal Gate action will be protected industrial action, meaning that it could be adverse action if the government or Sydney and NSW Trains interfere with the action or threaten RTBU members in any way for taking part in it. We will be keeping a close eye out for any attempts by management or ministers to intimidate members and will not hesitate to fight any adverse action head on.

If you have any questions about the PAB or the upcoming Opal action, we have set up a hotline for members to call or text and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

The hotline number is 0488 117 772. As always you can also contact your local delegate.
