Industrial Action Calendar and Strike Action Areas
Dear members,
Today we have released our industrial action calendar for August. The negotiations are still stalled, with claims for our Cleaners and Infrastructure Division still outstanding and a blanket refusal by the NSW Government to engage with us at all on pay.
You can access the calendar here.
You will notice that on the calendar, there are 4 dates for strikes in “Strike Areas”. We’ve divided NSW into 4 distinct areas that will be going on strike on those dates.
How do I find out what Strike Area I am in?
What Strike Area you are in depends on the location of your Home Station/Depot. If for some reason you don’t have a home station/depot, your strike area will be judged on where you regularly work or sign on.
Simply pull up the Strike Action Area list here, find your home station/depot, to find what area you are in. If you don’t want to scroll through the entire document to find your area, if you are on a computer, you can press CONTROL + F to search the document for your location.
What time am I going on strike?
The first page of the Strike Action Area list has two time slots. The first is 1000 – 1400, and the second is 1200 – 1600.
Each time slot has a list of roles allotted to it. If you can’t see your role on it, then you will be in 1200 – 1600. Otherwise your strike time will be whichever it is allocated to on that page.
You can then go back to the calendar and check which day your area is going on strike.
What about Signallers and Network Controllers in the ROC?
Unfortunately for this to work, Signallers and members in Network Control aren’t able to take part at this stage. Instead, they have put on a number of bans that traverse the entire period to compensate for their absence. These include bans on shift extensions, automatic signal blocking, and other bans on work on track authorisations.
Will we be having mass meetings?
Yes. On the strike dates, we will be holding stop work meetings at a venue within the area of the stoppage. Keep an eye out for the location that correlates with your strike area. You are of course welcome to come to any of the meetings.
If you are unsure of anything, please contact either your delegates, organiser, or the office on nswho@rtbu-nsw.asn.au.
