Our Melbourne comrades strike for their pay and conditions
RTBU tram drivers in Melbourne have been forced to take strike action today to resolve a dispute with their employer Yarra Trams over pay and conditions.
Yarra Trams is attempting to undermine some existing conditions while offering only a negligible pay increase over four years – and despite countless meetings with the company the RTBU hasn’t been able to come close to an agreement.
RTBU members in Victoria have become so frustrated by the failure to address their concerns and the only option left was to go on strike.
The strike action will affect the entire tram fleet in Melbourne and will be in place from 10am to 2pm today.
We stand in solidarity with our colleagues in Melbourne.
