Metro Trains Sydney workers win back-pay
Metro Trains Sydney maintenance workers have won a long-running battle for more than $500,000 in unpaid wages.
After MTS refused to pay more than nine months worth of allowances and leave loading to 32 staff as part of an employment agreement, Unions NSW lodged a dispute in September to have these staff members’ back-pay requests honoured.
A total final payout of $330,000 plus superannuation was given after a successful union-led case which was lodged to Fair Work Australia.
The staff, who worked from July 2019 to help establish the Metro North West service, are now, on average, $10,000 better off.
