LICS Operators to Take Over TCDC Tasks
Bulletin No: 49.20
To: RTBU LICS Operator Members,
At the Local Consultative Committee (LCC) meeting held with the Signaller Sub-Division executive, Sydney Trains advised they are commencing consultation for the transfer of the Train Control Decision Capture tool (TCDC) tasks to Line Information Control System (LICS) Operators.
The RTBU immediately requested the presence of LICS representatives for the consultation phase. Sydney Trains agreed to this request.
It is important to note that this is not a restructure and as such, no positions will be lost.
A major concern of members related to the tight consultation timeframe. RTBU representatives have requested an extension of that timeframe.
Members may recall that the RTBU had already initiated a grade review process for LICS Operators with a view to achieving a pay increase. The addition of TCDC responsibilities add reinforce and add weight to that claim. However, the TCDC task transfer consultation and LICS grade review are two separate processes.
All feedback should be sent to RTBU LICS representatives without delay. An issue register will be developed and tabled with Sydney Trains for them to respond to. A further bulletin will be released with that feedback when it is given.
Prior to any agreement being reached on the proposal, the RTBU will seek endorsement from its LICS membership.
