Fewer seats on intercity trains could leave hundreds standing
The State Government has prioritised drink holders over seats in the new intercity train fleet, and reports in the Daily Telegraph suggest that it could leave hundreds of commuters standing.
We’re not sure the seat numbers will stack up and with many lines already at capacity, adding extra services won’t be an option.
This is yet another concern about the NIF to add to our long list: we’re also concerned that the NSW Government prefers to introduce driver-only operation (DOO), that the trains will be built in South Korea and that consortium partner Hyundai Rotem is in global headlines for all the wrong reasons.
