Discussions update: the latest from the negotiating table
Discussions with Sydney and NSW Trains management went well into the night last night, but, unfortunately, we walked away from the meeting still without a decent offer in our hands.
You may have seen media reports today about an offer that was put on the table last night. Not only is it disappointing that the Minister’s office is clearly leaking information to the media, but the reports are disingenuous.
The offer discussed yesterday was not up to scratch. There are still a range of conditions that we haven’t got agreement on, including rostering concerns, job security, keeping the value of your Opal card when services are privatised and a fair and timely discipline process.
You can listen to an interview RTBU NSW Secretary, Alex Claassens, did this morning on 2GB giving an update on the situation: https://www.2gb.com/rail-union
We are expecting to go into discussions with management again today at 2pm. As always, we’re very hopeful that we’ll come out of those talks with an offer that provides you with the fair conditions and wages you deserve.
We will keep you updated as things progress.
Together, we will get a fair deal.
