Big job loss fears hang over final decision on sale of Aurizon
Aurizon’s intermodal business could be broken up and sold, rather than offloaded, and this could trigger the loss of hundreds of jobs, according to The Australian.
It’s reported that UBS is continuing to consider options after Aurizon announced it would review the business, and that “sources close to the company” say options include a sale or break-up, the business being retained, or a joint venture partner introduced.
According to previous reports in the AFR, UBS is running a two-stage auction and that first round bids for the intermodal business are likely to be received by Pacific National, Qube Holdings and SCT Logistics – companies which would seek to “bolt on” Aurizon’s business.
