Ask for a changeover if you get a flat tyre

There is an issue at Ryde Depot with members reporting that they have been asked by the radio room to drive buses back to the depot with a flat tyre.

The union advises ALL members to immediately ask for a changeover if you get a flat tyre.

If the radio room asks you to drive the bus back the union’s advice is to politely decline.

Driving with a flat tyre is potentially dangerous and it is not clear who is responsible if an incident occurs – such as the tyre coming off the rim and hitting a pedestrian.

The union does not believe that the radio room should ever ask operators to drive with a flat tyre and is disputing this issue. Members will be kept informed of the outcome.
