Area Controllers, Signallers and LIC’s Operators: Protected Industrial Action Update
Bulletin 04/2018
To: All RTBU Area Controllers, Signallers and LIC’s Operators Members
Overtime Ban
As members of the RTBU, we will be implementing an overtime ban from Thursday, 25th January 2018. We can confirm that this is a ban on all overtime. This ban means that you cannot be required to work any rostered overtime from the 25th January onwards.
If you work in a single-person box and feel comfortable notifying staff office that you will be participating in the industrial action you may decide to do so to ensure that you are relieved from duty within a reasonable period of time.
If you are rostered for overtime that overlaps into Thursday the 25th January 2018 (E.g.: night shift) and you have already accepted the shift, you need to:
- Commence work on your start time.
- At midnight advise the RMC that your protected action has commenced and you are finishing work now.
In the event that you work in a single person box, and you’re rostered for an overtime shift that overlaps into Thursday 25th January 2018 (E.g. night shift) you will also need to:
- Give Sydney Trains reasonable time to relieve you.
- Notify the boxes either side of your box.
- Ensure that the section(s) that you are responsible for are cleared of any traffic.
- Turn the signals to red.
- Secure the box prior to leaving.
