ALP left seeks to lift taxes, boost the ‘right to strike’
NSW Labor’s left will push a radical economic agenda at next week’s party conference, including increased taxes on high-income earners, an inheritance tax, a guaranteed “basic income” for people who do not work and the reinstatement of the unimpeded “right to strike”, including secondary boycotts. The RTBU’s motion to force labour-hire firms tendering for government business to enter into enterprise agreements with unions may also win some backing from the party.
