Reminder about Station Staff Training & Assessments Industrial Action

Dear Members,

An indefinite ban on non-safeworking competency assurance assessments for Station Staff commences today. This ban will now remain in place until further notice, or until an enterprise agreement is reached with Sydney and NSW Trains.

This action is coupled with a ban on non-safeworking training for Station Staff that commenced on 10 September 2022 and continues to run indefinitely.

This includes Right of Way competency assurance assessments.

Members have no obligation to take any active steps with management regarding participation in the ban; you simply need to not engage in the assessment. However, if you need assistance with getting your roster changed to reflect your non-participation in either competency assessments or training, please contact the Industrial Advocate on (02) 9264 2511 or advocate@rtbu-nsw.asn.au.

The details of these bans are below:

Remember, there are still a number of indefinite actions that still apply to Station Staff. You can find those on the website, www.ourightsourfight.com.au under the “Indefinite Actions” tab.

They are:

• Working sitting down
• Working to rule
• Wearing union gear to work
• Only cleaning hard rubbish (aside from lifts and a disabled toilets)
• Leaving the wide gate array open at all times
• Ban on wearing name badges and lanyards
• Ban on participating in online training or instructional courses
• Ban on making announcements regarding opal processes or issues

A reminder that the Protected Action Ballot is currently taking place that will allow us to take the action of deactivating the opal gates and poles.
