Amalgamation of Gosford and Wyong Signal Boxes
Bulletin No.8.21
In 2020, Sydney Trains management advised members and the RTBU that they planned to amalgamate the Gosford and Wyong signal boxes, a significant change for Signallers and Area Controllers, which triggered the consultation provisions in The Sydney Trains Enterprise Agreement. As a result, a preliminary commissioning date for the signal box was set for June 2021.
On January 28, Management ignoring their consultation obligations, organised a meeting with members without informing the RTBU. In this meeting members were told that the commissioning date had been delayed and that as a result, Gosford Area Controllers would be expected to travel to the Homebush Control Centre (HCC) to perform their duties.
Management meeting members without the RTBU and failing to provide options to affected members has created a situation that is unacceptable.
RTBU Delegates and Officials acted quickly to rectify the situation for our affected members.
Another meeting will now be held at the Wyong Station Conference room on February 11 at 10:00am with appropriate RTBU representation. The first half-hour will be a Union Caucus to determine our concerns before meeting with management.
To prepare for this meeting, we have created an Issues Register which has been distributed to members. This will be forwarded to Sydney Trains management without identifying members shortly.
If you have any comments or concerns, please talk to your workplace delegate or organiser.
