Visit the Unions Win Bus Privatisation Campaign
The combined unions who work for the STA, including the Bus and Tram Division of the RTBU, recently campaigned at bus stops across Sydney to call on the Transport Minister to come clean about Sydney bus privatisation.
After hitting about a dozen major bus location the government announced its plans for Sydney buses, confirming the renewal a 5 year contract that is set to commence from July 2017.
The news comes with some pain in the form of reform which will see a reduction in back office staff – a loss of jobs for roughly 200 people. The RTBU is further concerned that the cuts could affect front-line operations.
