Opal readers costing the state a fortune
Malfunctioning Opal card ticket machines are not only a safety hazard, but they’re costing the State Government millions of dollars in lost revenue.
The Daily Telegraph has today reported that tens of millions of dollars in lost revenue has been accumulated since the Opal card machines were introduced – a cost that is ultimately going to be paid for by the state’s taxpayers.
Gary Way was in the media today talking not only about the safety implications of the malfunctioning machines, but also about how ridiculous it is that millions of dollars that should be used for projects such as improving our public transport networks is being thrown away as a result of these malfunctioning machines.
