Train Driver’s National Health Survey: last chance to participate!

Oct 19, 2016Loco Express

The RTBULD have given support for a National Train Driver’s Health Survey. This is in response to the ever increasing health issues being experienced by Enginepersons/Drivers within our Rail environment.

CQUniversity and Flinders University are now conducting the national online survey to explore health and wellbeing in train drivers. The survey will gauge/look at the current health status and behaviours of train drivers and form part of their research that is exploring train driver general health and wellbeing. The survey is an anonymous and the RTBULD have been advised that any data retrieved will benefit finally our member’s welfare. Many of our comrades’ experience health concerns later in their career/life which we feel has a direct link to our working environment.

They are inviting train drivers in Australia to participate in this survey. The project has the approval of the CQUniversity Human Research Ethics Committee (CQUniversityHREC).

The survey parameters are clear with guidelines installed to firstly protect our members’ confidentiality whilst finally confirming that the health and wellbeing is being continually challenged due to the nature of work and lead to changes.

Some of the points are as follows.

  • Please note, you must be 18 years of age or older to participate, and your participation is completely voluntary.
  • If you decide to take part but change your mind during the course of completing the survey, simply close your browser.
  • Your data will not be uploaded until you click on the ‘submit’ button at the end of the survey. Note that this is an anonymous survey. No identifying information will be collected and all responses will be kept confidential.
  • It will take between 15-30 minutes to complete and answers are strictly confidential.
  • On completion of the study, you have the opportunity to enter your details to win one ofTHREE 256GB 9.7-inch iPad Pros, worth approximately $899 each.
