Reported in the Parramatta Holroyd Sun

Now is the time to jump on board to have your say about the proposed Parramatta Light Rail route.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Transport and Infrastructure Minister Andrew Constance recently announced the preferred route for first stage of the project, due to open in 2023.

The first stage will link Parramatta’s CBD to the Westmead health and Parramatta North heritage precincts, the Telopea master plan area, Rosehill Racecourse and three Western Sydney University campuses.

“Light rail will revolutionise the way we travel and now is a great time for anyone wanting to have their say or to find out more with a number of information sessions being held in our area,” Parramatta MP Geoff Lee said.

“This vital piece of infrastructure will ensure residents, workers and visitors can get to their destination quickly and easily. Construction on stage one is expected to start in 2018, and we want the community to get involved, either through the online survey on the Parramatta Light Rail website or at the information sessions now underway,” Mr Lee said.

“A detailed calendar of events is on the project website, with information sessions to be held at Parramatta, Westmead, Carlingford and the upcoming Royal Easter Show.

Information sessions include details about where the light rail will run, how often the service will operate, and where the stops are located.

Planning for stage two, from Camellia to Strathfield via Sydney Olympic Park will be developed in collaboration with Sydney Metro West and is expected to be finalised by the end this year.
