Metro Trains Sydney: RTBU Update

RTBU organisers were on site today to visit Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) employees in order to discuss the ongoing industrial issues around employees’ pay and conditions at work. The purpose of the visit was to attend a joint meeting with Professionals Australia (PA) as well as to explain what we can do collectively as union members to ensure that you have job security and certainty as to what your role is and what conditions you work to.

The RTBU is aware that there are numerous concerns about rosters, work-life balance and even something as basic as knowledge of your rate of pay. We are in the process of considering our options concerning the existing agreement and how we can work together to improve your conditions and pay.

MTS are taking advantage of their employees and as a result there is understandable confusion and anxiety about what the business does next. The RTBU is of the view that employees deserve better and that the only way to effectively deal with any issues is to collectively organise and campaign in the workplace.

The RTBU is ready and willing to take up the fight with MTS in order to make sure that your pay and conditions are something to be proud of. Everybody, regardless of where they work or what they do, deserves job security and a decent agreement. However, in order to achieve this, we need to stand together as one and show MTS that we are a force to be reckoned with.

The RTBU will be back on site next week to continue talking to employees in an attempt to organise and fight back against MTS’ unfair treatment of their employees. We will advise all employees as soon as possible as to when this will be so that you can attend and make sure your voice is heard.

If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please contact the RTBU on (02) 9264 2511.  Not a member? Then join today!
