To: Sydney Trains Guards,

The RTBU Guards Sub-Division Delegates met with Sydney Trains’ Future Operations team on Tuesday, 13^th December 2016 with the intent to discuss Sydney Trains Future Operations package.

During the forum, there needed to be separate discussions for Guards and Drivers.

Sydney Trains agreed with the RTBU Guards Sub-Division Delegates that due to a lack of adequate facilities being provided they will reschedule a meeting with the Guards Delegates in early January 2017.

The meeting in January will give Sydney Trains the opportunity to present and explain their package to our delegates. Sydney Trains also engaged Price Waterhouse Coopers to cost the Guards’ Cab and Security Allowance into an hourly rate. The costing was based on the 2014-15 financial year and they now will do a costing on the 2015-16 financial year. The hourly rate will apply to weekend penalties, annual leave, long service leave and sick leave as well as an increase into your superannuation.

There is a concern regarding the process on the costing as we have to ensure members are not worse off with an hourly rate. There will be further discussions with Sydney Trains and Price Waterhouse Coopers to ensure their methodology delivers a fair hourly rate for Guards. This proposal is part of the package to be discussed by delegates in early January 2017.
